Week 9 Story: Battle of the Heavens
In the beginning of time, a big bang created a world split between heaven and hell. Each world was ruled by all-mighty entities; Aura, the goddess angel of heaven, and Amadan, the demon king of hell. For years, the two rulers raged war upon each other, creating chaos for centuries to come. Between the two opposite worlds existed a world of man, who found themselves constantly in the crossfire in the war between heaven and hell.
The two rulers also had children of their own. First born son of Amadan was named, Zaratras, who became the most notorious and feared soldier in the demon king’s army. First born daughter of Aura was named, Yama, who also became the strongest soldier in the army of heavens. Both fought countless days and nights, fighting for a cause created by their parents. However, when they met on the battlefield, it deemed too difficult for each other to defeat one another as their skills were too on par. Zaratras was curious of the one soldier that he was not able to defeat and became fascinated with Yama. As he was tired of fighting for a war that he did not want, Zaratras decided that he would try to talk to Yama to see if perhaps she felt the same way about the war as he did.
The next day, both Zaratras and Yama entered the battlefields just like any other day. But this time, Zaratras solely targeted on Yama to get her to focus her attention on him. After noticing this, Yama flew up to the sky where Zaratras was waiting.
“So, we finally me—,” Zaratras started to talk, but an arrow shot straight to his face. After dodging the arrow, Zaratras drew his sword in frustration.
“No need to talk demon, I will erase you and end this pointless war” said Yama.
“Pointless… what do you mean by that?” asked Zaratras, surprised to hear the word.
“I take no part in what my mother decides. I simply eradicate all evil, and you demon, are evil” said Yama, drawing another arrow in her bow.
Author's Note:
The story I am writing is similar to that of the story of Izanagi and Izanami but with a bit of a twist. Izanami and Izanagi were married as god and goddess but the story I am writing features the son and daughter of two opposite worlds. Zaratras, the son of the demon king, decides that he will convince the daughter of the angel goddess, Yama, to end the war that he wants no part in. I will continue more on the story for the project. Right now, I am still deciding whether I want Zaratras and Yama to have a romantic relationship or strictly a partnership in which they both end the war together.

ReplyDeleteFirst off, this was a really great story. You did a really good job of adapting the original story of Izanagi and Izanami. I enjoyed the added dialogue I think it does well in setting the tone of the story. I think the addition of a romantic relationship between Zaratras and Yama would be a nice touch. Good job on this, keep up the great work!

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your story! This is an excellent hook for whatever future stories you are planning to tell with your project. Just like your introduction, your writing is very concise but very detailed. There are no wasted or minced words. Everything serves a purpose and does so marvelously. I can't wait to see where you take the story of Zaratras and Yama in the future!

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Zaratras trying to talk to Yama and her just straight up shooting an arrow at her face is amazing. I really liked this story! I like that it is short and concise, but does not feel like it is missing any necessary details. Great job! If you want to continue this story (or a story like this), I think having a romantic relationship between Zaratras and Yama would be a nice touch.
